Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

The best way to keep your home tidy is to use a robotic vacuum. It can pick up dust, pet hair, and other debris on surfaces.

Some robots connect to smart assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant for a hands-free experience. Look for models that can recharge and then resume cleaning where they left off.

1. iRobot s8

This smart robot vacuum and mop is an excellent choice for many homes. It vacuums and mops well and has a great navigation system that includes both GPS and laser sensors and comes with a variety of controls and features accessible through the app. It also comes with a helpful feature that allows you to add cleaning zones to certain areas that require extra attention, and also to keep Out zones where you do not want it to move. It also receives software updates, just like all Roomba products, that enhance it over time.

It's costly, but it's also among the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has tested. It has a high-powered battery that can vacuum a large home in under two hours, and it can switch between vacuuming and mopping at the touch of a button. It automatically empties the bin of dust above its charging station, unlike other self-emptying robots that require you to empty it after every run.

It's got a range of other features that make it an excellent choice for homes of all sizes, including intelligent obstacle avoidance that uses the camera as well as processor-powered smarts to detect obstacles. It isn't often entangled or trapped during a cleaning process and is also the most effective in avoiding power cables and other objects in my tests. However, it isn't as accurate in detecting pet waste or other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

Although Anker-owned Eufy has earned its name in low-cost robot vacuums it hasn't previously offered an all-in-one model which can also mop. That's changed with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive array of modern features that can compete against more expensive models.

Eufy's main selling point with the X8 is its laser navigation. The previous Eufy devices have built up an outline of your home using infrared sensors and bumping into things however the X8's laser mapping technology is much more accurate. It also takes significantly less time to create an accurate map of your home and can store multiple maps, which is ideal for multi-floor homes.

The X8 is a decent vacuum cleaner on bare floors. It is able to easily throw debris through the side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin. The tyres are adept at securing edges and corners, even though they're circular. It's not the best cat litter eater, however, with our tests showing it only removes about 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.

There's a basic mopping mode that utilizes the same water tank as the vacuuming one. This is great for spills that are not dangerous, but you are unable to limit the amount of water that it uses. That said, it does an admirable job of picking up pet hair, and has a higher speed of pickup than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is known for its quiet, effective appliances. It is a stunning design, a great navigation system, and excellent cleaning power. There are a few niggles in its operation that prevent it from being named the best smart robot vacuum.

Like the latest models from iRobot like the RX2 has dual-sensor mapping technology that uses an LIDAR sensor to map out an area and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real-time. Once the room has been mapped, you can designate virtual no-go areas and sections that you would like to be the robot. You can also change the cleaning options, begin a manual clean or see a live feed of the cameras onboard from the main screen.

The RX2 has excellent sensors that detect furniture and other obstructions instantly. Its sweeping and suction power are top-notch cleaning up surface debris from carpets with medium piles and dust in bare floors. But it's not the most efficient robot available. It's not the best climber and has issues with metal threshold transition strips.

Some people buy a robot vacuum for the ease of setting up a schedule using an app and not thinking about it for weeks at one time. It's important that a robot is able to do the job, so our ZDNet team has tested and examined some of the most popular models in order to help you choose the right one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This round, budget robovac looks just like a typical robot, but it's upgraded in performance and features. Its smart mapping system creates 2D and 3D maps of your home and uses those to navigate and avoid obstacles. It can even detect common obstacles such as furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors along with a bump detector and an infrared sensor to keep the vacuum off steps makes it one our most agile vacuums.

It was able to walk over carpets with thick shags and did not get stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690-). Its navigation abilities were impressive as well; its composite score in carpet and bare floors topped the competition, and it took in 98.5 percent of the surface pet hair and litter from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are less basic than those of the competition's. There's a clean button at the top, and you can start it with the app or voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set up a schedule for daily or weekly cleaning, set areas that are not allowed to be cleaned, and best robot vacuum and mop check its cleaning history. 5. Eufy 11S

Eufy 11S is an excellent option if you're looking for a vacuum cleaner that is easy to use and has no frills at a low cost. Roomba 990 from iRobot

The Roomba is iRobot’s flagship robot vacuum. It's pricey however it's top-performing and arguably the most advanced robot vacuum you can buy. Its self-navigation feature and environmental mapping is a marvel to behold. It is more sophisticated in its automation than its rivals, for instance the capability to set up virtual boundary markers using its mobile app. It's a capable robot vacuum, even though its application is a bit slow and the 980 spins out when it is pushed over cables.
